When I was ten years old, I sometimes thought, “What can we do in boring times?” Well, boring is not always bad! Sometimes you should think, “What should we play during boring times?” An easy answer is ‘Backyard Cricket!’ I always played backyard cricket with my cousin, Muqtadir. We always played backyard cricket at my Nani’s home when we were bored. I always went to the shop and asked them, “How much does this ball cost?” Seriously, I was always hitting sixes, and the ball went into the neighbor’s house! The neighbors didn’t give us the ball back! So, without any argument with the neighbors, we just went to the shop and bought a new ball! My cousin’s brother, Muqtadir, was an expert in batting. Not only that, he was also an expert at bowling. The bat that we were playing with was not a ‘Cricket bat.’ We made the bat ourselves with wood! Sometimes we hit the ball with a bat so hard that the ball went into the forest (the forest was near our Nani’s house). Muqtadir always went into the forest to bring the ball back, and sometimes the ball was lost in the forest. But for me, it is a good idea to play ‘Backyard Cricket’ when bored. But in ‘Backyard Cricket,’ there are some rules:
- If the ball goes into the neighbor’s house, the batsman is ‘out.’
- If the bowler throws a bouncer ball, it will be considered a ‘no ball.’
- To hit four and six, you should hit the ball hard, but it should not go in the neighbor’s house or in the village. (Other rules are the same as the rules of ‘cricket.’)
Now the rules I told you were important, or else you would be beaten by your neighbors!
On the other hand, ‘Backyard Cricket’ is good to play and it is interesting, but are there any other sports that we can play in our backyard? I would say ‘yes.’ There are sports like football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, etc. These are the sports that we can play in our backyard. I think the best option to play a sport in our backyard is ‘Cricket.’ Now it is your choice what you would like to play in your backyard.
Backyard cricket is a nice game to play in your backyard. It can provide you with some refreshment, and when you are bored, you can play cricket in your backyard. Don’t wait! Go and bring a bat and ball so you can play cricket with your friends in your backyard!
