Nowadays, we see people becoming obsessed with going to the gym, eating a balanced diet, or even visiting a therapist. But is all this really beneficial, or is it just another trend that people are following out of herd mentality? Let’s find out. What? According to the WHO, health is defined as a state of mental, physical, and social well-being. This means that it encompasses all areas such as mental wellness, physical health, personal hygiene, and social peace and tranquility. Why? Someone might ask why we are even talking about this. To answer that, we need to understand the importance of taking care of ourselves and staying healthy. It is important for the body to be fit and healthy in order to function properly. When we exercise, it helps with blood circulation, freshens our minds, strengthens our muscles, and increases our stamina, all of which lead to a happy and meaningful life. Similarly, personal hygiene is crucial because it protects us from diseases. Mental health is just as important as physical health because, for the body to function properly, the mind must be healthy first. How? Here are some ways to take care of yourself:

(i) Eat a balanced and nutritious diet.

(ii) Avoid eating junk food and keep yourself hydrated.

(iii) Following basic hygiene can protect us from many diseases.

(iv) Avoid sitting for long periods and reduce exposure to gadgets like mobile phones and computers.

Lastly, I would like to say that it is in our own hands whether we want to lead a happy and healthy life. So, it is our duty to take care of ourselves and not harm ourselves out of negligence.
