Poem

Zarnain Malik Grade 7

Kashmiri: the forgotten language
Kashmiri, the forgotten tongue,
Ah! But a sweet song unsung,
Once spoken in the valley green,
Now echoes are lost as a distant scream.
Amidst the snow-capped mountains,
The language whispered to the sky,
The rivers flowed, the zephyrs sang,
Yet running down our narrow lanes.
A flame burns in the heart
Like a yearning for forgotten art,
Kashmiri, the forsaken tongue,
May it one day again be sung,
And in its sweet and ancient sound,
A new hope and peace may be found.
